Why You Should Own a Personal Paper Shredder

We know, we know, we're in the paper shredding business, why would we want you to own your own document shredder?

Here's the thing, shredding sensitive documents is ESSENTIAL to protecting your personal information and identity.

It may seem like a dramatic statement for the digital age, but paper documents still pose a serious threat to your digital and analog identity. What may seem like a meaningless printed email is a hacking tool once mixed with other seemingly innocuous documents. This is why we encourage people to utilize personal shredders for every day shredding of store receipts, bank statements, insurance paperwork, etc.

Keep in mind personal shredders do have their limitations. Most motors cannot handle long term shredding, so if you haven't been able to keep up with the demands of your document shredding we don't recommend trying to use your personal shredder. When your shredder becomes overheated it will power off and leave you waiting for a time when it will start back up again. In doing this you're shortening the life of your shredder, and wasting precious time from your day. We've even heard comments about clients becoming so frustrated they just gave up on shredding and discarded their sensitive documents without shredding them.

At ProShred Connecticut we never want you to feel overwhelmed with your shredding duties. If you find you're unable to keep up with your day to day shredding needs, or you've found you have that dreaded backlog of documents to shred, give us a call and find out how we can assist you with your shredding needs. We'll discuss what you can do to guarantee your documents are handled and discarded properly, so you don't have to worry about your information being compromised in the future.
