Erasing Your Hard Drive Is Not Enough

Hard Drive and Data Destruction Services.
Throwing away important documents in the trash that contain private information is a risk companies should not take. That is why a document destruction service is important.
Nowadays, more and more of that information is stored digitally on hard drives. That information needs to be protected and properly destroyed when no longer needed.. The best way to avoid a security breach is to use a hard drive destruction service to ensure confidential and highly sensitive data is uncompromised.
PROSHRED will make sure your hard drive will be disposed of properly.
Erasing Data does not fully remove all information and it can end up in the hands of the wrong person. Don’t take that chance. Find out more about our hard drive destruction service.

Tax Time Already?

Tax Season is still months away. Most of us don't think about it until the year is over. Some of us don't think about tax time until April. This is the year we all get a jump start on being prepared. Out with the old to get ready for the new. Only 10 weeks left in 2014. Contact ProShred to help you make room for the paperwork you need to create and save this year.
10 Weeks Till 2015

Thought of the Day
I cannot believe that it is almost 2015. Looking at that year in writing and shaking our heads. It almost doesn't look real. Those of us born with a 19 to start our birth year, look at 2015 as something out of a science fiction movie. Something only reachable in a time machine. Time does fly by. Make every moment count.

There is never enough time

No matter what your job title is or what you are responsible for at work, there is never enough time in the day. Some people are great at multitasking and others are better at making a list in order of importance and tackling that list one task at a time. Yet somehow it falls down the list or doesn't make it on the list at all. There is never enough time to get to it, but there needs to be. Reputation Management

Don’t let a security breach ruin your company’s reputation.

Everyday we read in the news about another company having their data or information compromised. Some of the best-intended companies are taken down by computer hackers or even an unethical employee. With the increase in identity and credit card theft, we all must be vigilant in protecting the information of those who trust our companies.

We have all heard the stories about Target and how their data breach has effected the way consumers feel about that company and their hesitation on making purchases there. Not only is the cost great by lost ales, the cost is greater to companies when they must spend additional money to win back lost consumers and gain their trust again.

Call ProShred to discuss options on how we can help secure your information. As you know, we are a full service document shredding company, but can also help destroy old hard drives they may contain information that you don’t want to see in the wrong hands.

ProShred of CT Shreds Thousands of Pounds so Your Identity is Safe!

Have you ever wondered just how much paper is piled into our trucks during our many charity events? It's incredible to think that thousands of pounds of paper are destroyed by ProShred of Connecticut every weekend, often times at no cost to the customer, simply in the name of charity. We couldn't think of a better way to give back than guarantee the destruction and recycling of sensitive documents that have the power to compromise one of our fellow Connecticut residents.

In the beginning of May we had the pleasure of doing multiple events in one weekend. This led to the destruction of over 20,000 lbs of paper! One of our most successful events this year yielded almost 13,000 pounds of destroyed and recycled paper. It's always a great weekend when we can help Connecticut communities eliminate waste, and properly dispose of old tax documents, insurance paperwork, private communications, bank statements, and more. We love what we do because it impacts not just the community, but the environment too!

Why You Should Own a Personal Paper Shredder

We know, we know, we're in the paper shredding business, why would we want you to own your own document shredder?

Here's the thing, shredding sensitive documents is ESSENTIAL to protecting your personal information and identity.

It may seem like a dramatic statement for the digital age, but paper documents still pose a serious threat to your digital and analog identity. What may seem like a meaningless printed email is a hacking tool once mixed with other seemingly innocuous documents. This is why we encourage people to utilize personal shredders for every day shredding of store receipts, bank statements, insurance paperwork, etc.

Keep in mind personal shredders do have their limitations. Most motors cannot handle long term shredding, so if you haven't been able to keep up with the demands of your document shredding we don't recommend trying to use your personal shredder. When your shredder becomes overheated it will power off and leave you waiting for a time when it will start back up again. In doing this you're shortening the life of your shredder, and wasting precious time from your day. We've even heard comments about clients becoming so frustrated they just gave up on shredding and discarded their sensitive documents without shredding them.

At ProShred Connecticut we never want you to feel overwhelmed with your shredding duties. If you find you're unable to keep up with your day to day shredding needs, or you've found you have that dreaded backlog of documents to shred, give us a call and find out how we can assist you with your shredding needs. We'll discuss what you can do to guarantee your documents are handled and discarded properly, so you don't have to worry about your information being compromised in the future.

Numbers you should be Shredding, but probably aren’t.

The digital age brought many great improvements to how we do business. Communication is instantaneous and easy, records can easily be kept in online databases, and paper trails are mostly digital. This is great at speeding up workflows, and managing clients, but it also makes it very easy for your information to be compromised, and with seemingly innocuous information. With the right information a person could log online and enter something as simple as a phone number and your privacy could be compromised. Surprised? Here are a few numbers you should be shredding, but probably aren’t:

Insurance Policy Data
Even though policy statements are usually limited to your name and account number, they can still be used to access more information. We’ve talked to too many people who just assume they can rip them up and toss them out without a second thought. Properly disposing of these documents is important to protect your medical history and your identity.

Employment Information
This can include old pay stubs, memos of your employment status, or anything with an employment ID number. The content may be irrelevant, but access to those numbers can directly impact your privacy within the company.

Education Documents
Students are particularly prone to be irresponsible with their paperwork. We urge college campuses and schools to offer Shredding services to protect their student’s from naively disposing of class schedules, notices, and financial aid documents in regular trash.

Medical Records
Just like insurance policy data, medical records can be used to obtain even more information. Even simple doctor’s notes kept on file with a business can undermine a person’s privacy. Always err on the side of caution and be sure to properly dispose to any documents containing medical information and numbers.

With the improvements of the digital age also come the side affects. We urge business’ and individuals to be more aware of how they are treating documents with sensitive information, and to never underestimate the simplicity of a document. We grew up being told, “better safe, than sorry,” and it’s a mantra we’ve taken into our business, so everyone can progress into the digital age safely.
